The Scene

Walls drenched in festive shades of blue, pink, orange and yellow make the inside of Chango look like the outside of a Day-Glo pinata. The blond wood bar draws a happy hour crowd of margarita-swilling young professionals--the same types who inhabit owners Andrew Silverman and Dean Palin's other Park Avenue South properties, which include City Crab, Sushi Samba and L'Express.

The Food

Chef Joseph Cacace cooks with a light touch without forsaking the flavor or the authenticity of traditional dishes like tacos, fajitas and enchiladas. The tres bocadillos appetizer offers a sampling of the slightly spicy braised chicken tinga tamale, potato rajas empanada (strangely similar to a knish), and crispy smoked chicken flauta. Full-bodied seasoning prevails in winning entrees like the Yucatan roasted chicken, adobo-rubbed ahi tuna and achiote-marinated pork, the last of which is tender enough to eat with a spoon.

At the Bar

Dazzlingly smooth margaritas, prepared with fresh lime juice and your choice of top-grade tequilas, are well worth a happy hour trek. Infused tequila shots and cocktails made with fresh purees are the clincher.

Sunday Specials

From noon to 4pm, the brunch includes all-you-can-drink champagne cocktails and Bloody Marias. Sunday nights, tacos go for $2 a piece.
