Location Midtown (Times Square Broadway)
224 W 49th St General information![]() What to expect: Opened in 1999, The Time Hotel presents a dynamic departure from the traditional hotel experience. Every element was designed or overseen by restaurant-designer Adam Tihany, known for his rule-breaking concepts. Color is the concept that drives this hotel—from the muted gray and cream tones in the minimalist lobby to the vivid reds, blues, and yellows in guestrooms. The Time is a hit with the entertainment industry, theatergoers, and businesspeople who appreciate its unconventional style. Amenity highlights: Illuminated showroom-style windows flank the entrance of this 16-story hotel. The street level is home to Coco Pazza Teatro, the hotel's alluring Tuscan restaurant. A glass-enclosed elevator ascends to the second level, site of the reception area and the futuristic Time Lounge. Insider tip: Walking on eggshells? Well, almost. Guests riding the glass-enclosed elevator can look down to see brown and white eggs arranged in a checkerboard pattern at the bottom of the shaft. It's one of the many witty surprises found throughout the hotel. Property amenities![]() The Time is in the middle of the Broadway Theater District, with almost 40 theaters within 8 blocks. The hotel features a chic restaurant serving Tuscan fare and a trendsetting bar with a wall of mini-screens. Meeting and event spaces include the Brown Room, with dual 41-inch plasma-screen TVs, and the Glass Pavilion on the penthouse level.
Policies Extra person charges may apply and vary depending on hotel policy.
Dining![]() Coco Pazza Teatro - Tuscan cuisine is served in a modern, street-level room accented with amber and gold tones. Signature dishes include Tagliata (thinly sliced Angus beef with arugula) and Chicche (potato dumplings with Swiss chard, Stracchino cheese, and black truffles). Dessert includes Torta di Cioccolate Caldo (molten chocolate cake with hazelnut ice cream and roasted pears). Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Time Lounge - Located on the second floor, the ultra-modern lounge is decorated in a muted palette of cream with dark-wood accents. A wall of mini-screens displays artistic video images, including anime. Specialty martinis and innovative tapas top the menu. DJs provide entertainment nightly. Room service is available 18 hours a day. RecreationThe Time has a 24-hour fitness room with a 48-inch flat-screen TV. The hotel also offers discounted passes to the New York Sports Club next door. Central Park, 10 blocks north of the hotel, provides walking, biking, and running paths; in-line and ice-skating; birding and boating. During the winter holiday season, the Rink at Rockefeller Plaza, 1½ blocks from the hotel, is the place to skate and people-watch. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply. Rooms![]() This hotel has 193 guestrooms, each dominated by a primary color: red (signifying romance), yellow (active), or blue (calm). The color theme is carried out in the tall, quilted headboards and soft bedspreads, the artwork, tiny vials of fragrance, and even in the jar of jelly beans. Each room has an Early Bird rack holding complimentary daytime accoutrements and a Night Bird rack for cast-off clothing. Rooms feature Bose Wave radios, TVs with birdcage-like canvas covers, and windows illuminated on either side by recessed lighting. Privacy is ensured with an innovative electronic “do not disturb” device. Conveniences include three phones (including bathroom phone), high-speed Internet access (fee), and fax/copier/printers. Black-and-white bathrooms have Moulton Brown London toiletries and showers or tubs.
