  • The Time's restaurant serves sensuous Tuscan fare such as spicy cioppino (seafood soup) and orange-scented crème brûlée.

Location

Midtown (Times Square Broadway)
Midtown is New York's entertainment center. Scores of restaurants and the bright lights of Broadway are steps away, with no need to fight for taxis after the show. Several museums are nearby and Fifth Avenue shopping is a short stroll. Also handy for business in the garment district and the growing number of office buildings in the vicinity.

General information

New York hotels - The Time Hotel

What to expect: Opened in 1999, The Time Hotel presents a dynamic departure from the traditional hotel experience. Every element was designed or overseen by restaurant-designer Adam Tihany, known for his rule-breaking concepts. Color is the concept that drives this hotel—from the muted gray and cream tones in the minimalist lobby to the vivid reds, blues, and yellows in guestrooms. The Time is a hit with the entertainment industry, theatergoers, and businesspeople who appreciate its unconventional style.

Amenity highlights: Illuminated showroom-style windows flank the entrance of this 16-story hotel. The street level is home to Coco Pazza Teatro, the hotel's alluring Tuscan restaurant. A glass-enclosed elevator ascends to the second level, site of the reception area and the futuristic Time Lounge.

Insider tip: Walking on eggshells? Well, almost. Guests riding the glass-enclosed elevator can look down to see brown and white eggs arranged in a checkerboard pattern at the bottom of the shaft. It's one of the many witty surprises found throughout the hotel.
