Ice Skating in New York CityMarkets Aquariums Ice Skating Parks Ice skating at Rockefeller Center is a popular option if you want to ice skate in New York City, but did you know you have other options? In addition to skating at Rockefeller Center, you could try Central Park, Prospect Park, or one of these other choices. Ice Skating at Rockefeller CenterSkating at Rockefeller center will set you back $8.50-$15 depending on the time of day. Skate rentals are $6 more. It is recommended to try off-times (early mornings & weekdays) to avoid crowding and some people complain that the blades on the rental skates available are dull and you should bring your own skates if possible. Rockefeller Plaza is located at 49th Street at Fifth Avenue. Wollman Rink in Central ParkWollman Rink is another popular skating choice and is apt to be crowded during peak times (especially weekends). Access to the rink for the full day is $8.50 ($4.25 children) during the week and $11 weekends ($4.50 children). Seniors skate for $4.25 all the time. Skate rentals are $4.75. Wollman Rink is located off Central Park East between 62nd and 63rd Streets. Lasker Rink in Central ParkAnother Central Park ice skating option is Lasker Rink located mid-park between 106th and 108th Streets. Ice skating will cost you $4.50 (children under 12 are $2.25) and skate rental is $4.75. Like Wollman rink, admission is good for a full day of access. Sky Rink at Chelsea PiersThe Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers offers ice skating year-round. Adults pay $12.50 per session, youths and seniors pay $9.00. Skate rental costs $5.75 and helmet rental is available for $3. The Chelsea Pier Sports and Entertainment complex is located at 23rd Street & the Hudson River. Kate Wollman Rink in Prospect ParkLocated in the southern part of the park, near Parkside & Ocean Avenues, the Kate Wollman Rink is another great ice skating choice. Skating costs $4.00 and for children 14 & under and seniors it's just $2.00. Skate rentals are $4.00 and free lockers are available though you'll need to bring or buy a lock. |
