New York City Karaoke BarsSuite 16Suite theme, sour attitude. The Bates Motel does hospitality better.
The SettingA rumored hotel premise would have been the sole draw to this snotty new scene machine, where you're treated more like cleaning staff than a paying guest. But aside from 16 sprawling banquettes with double old-fashioned glasses, an ice bucket and a fully-stocked mini bar (the contents of which might set you back a cool $150), follow-through on the theme is wanting. No steamy hot tub with fluffy robes; no phones at the tables with "room-to-room" calling. Such gimmicky touches would at least have stirred the place up. As it is, there's no reason to check in to check out at this dimly lit pose-fest. The SceneYoung, celebrity-fathered social-trite Samantha Ronson hosts a revolting Monday night karaoke party that sets this stage for a whole week of ridiculous nobodies and their adoring fans. There's a $5 cover charge if you're not one of her showy, tiny-tanked, sunglasses-at-night friends. Please disperse--there's nothing to see here. In Loo of GlamourThe chic interior is revealed as pure facade after eyeing the shockingly grungy restrooms downstairs. 127 8th Ave |
