A gay bar with a family feel smack-dab in the heart of "Hellsea."

The Scene

This laid-back lounge is appropriately bathed in beauty-enhancing red light. Its exposed brick wall displays caricatures featuring bad punch lines (two aliens demanding "take me to your breeder") and the sound system blares dance re-mixes of queer staples like the Bee Gees, Shirley Bassey, ABBA and Culture Club. The swamped bar is all about scoping and being scoped, while the back room boasts a more intimate feel.

The Scene

The crowd is interestingly diverse in terms of race, age and gay archetypes: You'll find theater fans, rock and roll fags, Guppies, ghetto chic, gym queens and the requisite few fag hags. Although pick-ups have been known to occur here, ultimately the joint maintains a friendly, neighborhood air with locals perennially dropping by for drinks and dish, not necessarily in that order.
